Currency Exchange
The currency in Rome is the Euro. Major cards such as Visa, MasterCard, Eurocard, Cirrus and Eurocheques are widely accepted. Amex is also recognised although it is less common. ATMs are widely available in Rome and most will accept cards tied into the Visa, MasterCard, Cirrus and Maestro systems. The daily cash withdrawal limit is €250. Money can be changed in banks, at post offices or at exchange offices. There are exchange booths at both airports and in numerous locations in the centre of the city.
Tipping
Tipping in Rome is not mandatory, although it is customary. Although restaurant bills often include a service charge of 15%, a tip of 5%-10% is still expected. Taxi drivers are usually given a 10% gratuity.
