Anat Loewenstein

Anat Loewenstein is Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Tel Aviv Medical Centre, Full Professor of Ophthalmology, and Incumbent of the Sydney A. Fox Chair in Ophthalmology and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in Israel.
After medical studies at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem and residency in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Tel Aviv Medical Center, she completed her fellowship in retinal vascular diseases and vitreoretinal surgery at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore, USA.
Professor Loewenstein's main areas of expertise are age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion and the investigation of drug toxicity to the retina. She also led the development of novel technology for early detection of AMD. Professor Loewenstein has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks of ophthalmology and she serves on multiple editorial boards. She is the editor of Case Reports in Ophthalmology and serves on many editorial boards.
Professor Loewenstein is a board member of the Euretina and of the American Society of Retina Specialist, and represents Israel on the European Societies of Ophthalmology board and she is the International representative on the Macula Society Executive Committee.
