Who Should Attend?
This workshop is suitable to all delegates who practice on the labour ward – doctors, midwives, trainees.

Why Attend?
Maternal Mortality in less resourceful countries has been targeted by many organisations to be improved & safe lives. Maternal Morbidity has not been addressed aggressively and thus this hands-on workshop addresses a common morbidity encountered through a common procedure on our Labour wards - Perineal Trauma. There is a lot of co-morbidity for mothers in future pregnancies due to failure in address, prevent, diagnose & manage the perineum during labour.

Objectives

Address the Anatomy of the pelvic floor to enable the recognition of the area of the trauma.
Discuss the evidence base medicine of when, how & what to use to manage the perineal trauma.
Use of simulation models for hands-on training on repair of episiotomy as well as 3rd and 4th degree perineal tears.
Understand the future management of pregnancy in patients who had advanced perineal trauma ( MDT Meeting).
Appreciate Risk Management Principles.
