Tour 1 - Accompanying Persons
Neve Zedek & and the Yemenite Quarter
Thursday, April 23rd, 09:30-12:00
 

Depart the hotel and drive/walk along the Tel-Aviv promenade to the historic neighborhood of Tel-Aviv, Neve Tzedek (Oasis of Justice) built in 1909. This is actually Tel Aviv’s first neighborhood. This neighborhood was founded in 1887 by Aharon Shlush, 22 years before Tel Aviv was founded. Later, Neve Tzedek was connected to Achuzat Bayit to form Tel Aviv. Many of the neighborhoods turn-of-the-century houses can still be seen and has retained much of its old charm. The Nobel Prize laureate author and poet Shmuel Yosef Agnon, lived and wrote here, encouraged by his fellow writer and neighbor Haim Brenner. Tour the area and visit the Gutman Museum of Art and Rokach House and art gallery.
Afterwards, walk along the narrow streets lined with old buildings in the Yemenite Quarter, settled by Jewish refugees from Yemen but now much taken up by young arty types, are still imbued with an Oriental, almost Arabic style contrasting with the rest of the city. The large and busy Carmel Market (the city’s main open- air food market) runs alongside the Yemenite Quarter.  
 
Participants will then be free to continue at their leisure via the Carmel Market to Shenkin St.

Tour 2 - Accompanying Persons
Beit Hatefutsoth- Diaspora Museum & Tel Aviv Port
Sunday, April 26, 2009, Begins at 09:30, Cost:  $40
 
Leave the hotel and visit Beit Hatefutsoth, the Nahum Goldmann Museum of the Jewish Diaspora.  A guide will convey the unique story of the Jewish people from the time of their expulsion from the Land of Israel 2,500 years ago to the present through exhibition and cultural endeavours.
 
Continue to the Tel Aviv Port which was founded in 1936. Now, 73 years later Tel Aviv Harbor (Namal Tel Aviv) is an area of shopping, cafés, pubs and other places of entertainment on the southern part of the Yarkon estuary, where the docks of a small port operated from 1938 to 1965 used to be located.  Participants will then be free to explore the Tel Aviv port and head to the hotel at their leisure.  The port is within walking distance from the hotel.
 
Tour 3 - For All Participants
The Old City of Jaffa
Friday, April 24th, 14:30-17:30
 
Depart the Hilton Hotel and drive to the Old City of Jaffa. A tour of Jaffa that embraces the archeological sites and the renewed alleys.
 
Tour 4 - Optional
From Port to Port - (walking tour)
Saturday, April 25th, 10:30-13:00
 
Leave the hotel and walk along the Tel-Aviv promenade from the Tel Aviv Port to the Port of Jaffa. Hear about the history of the city and join in the Israeli dancing on the beach.
